IPMX Core

IPMX-Enable Your Products Quickly and Easily

Turnkey IPMX FPGA Cores and Software

Nextera and Adeas offer industry leading FPGA IP cores for ST 2110, ST 2059, NMOS, and now IPMX! Available for AMD and Altera FPGAs, our cores have been broadly deployed and proven worldwide. We look forward to sharing our expertise to help you IPMX-enable your product line.

A full reference/demo design project is provided along with all of the drivers, daemons, system control software, and a Web GUI so customers can start with a working system and customize to their needs.

IPMX is the only open specification for AV over IP and the full specifications have been posted on the VSF website (vsf.tv).

What is IPMX?

IPMX is the only truly open AV over IP specification for use in Professional AV. Based on the widely adopted and proven ST 2110 standard with NMOS control software, IPMX finally makes AV over IP truly interoperable.

    IPMX offers the following capabilities:

    • Compressed Video (4Kp60 over 1G)
    • Very Low Latency (just a few lines of video)
    • Asynchronous Video (No need for PTP generators)
    • Industry Standard Control (NMOS)

As well as other ProAV requirements such as:

    • HDCP
    • EDID
    • General Purpose I/O

SMPTE ST 2110 AV over IP

The ST 2110 IP core set provides broadcast and professional AV equipment the ability to send and/or receive professional media over IP networks. The core supports the following sub standards:

    • ST 2110-10: System timing
    • ST 2110-20: Uncompressed active video
    • ST 2110-21: Traffic shaping
    • ST 2110-22: Compressed video
    • ST 2110-30: PCM digital audio
    • ST 2110-31: AES3 transparent transport
    • ST 2110-40: Ancillary data

The modularity and configurability allow an efficient implementation, using only the necessary RTL logic to minimize resources. Supports gateway and synthetic essence operation.

    NMOS Control Software

Compatible with any IP core, any OS, on any platform, the NMOS Software Core Linux Daemon enables SMPTE ST 2110 based products to interoperate on a multi-vendor IP network.

Developed by the Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA) and specified by the Joint Taskforce on Networked Media (JT-NM). NMOS Enables devices to be truly ST 2110 compliant.

    • IS-04: Discovery and Registration of ST 2110 devices on the network
    • IS-05: Connection Management for switching in a standard way by any broadcast controller
    • IS-07: Event & Tally provides the IP equivalent of GPIO events
    • IS-08: Audio Channel mapping from multiple sources into a single destination
    • IS-09: Enables automatic discovery of system parameters
    • IS-10: API Security to secure the control layer
