JT-NM Tested Program
What is the JT-NM Tested Program?
Sponsored by the Joint Taskforce on Networked Media (JT-NM) and administered by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and IRT, the JT-NM Tested program was designed to provide information that aids the industry’s transition from SDI to IP.
As the industry’s use of IP matures, the JT-NM Tested program offers prospective purchasers of IP-based equipment greater, more documented insight into how vendor equipment conforms to open industry standards; specifically SMPTE ST 2110, SMPTE ST 2059, and JT-NM TR-1001-1 including AMWA NMOS IS-04 and IS-05. IS-08 was also tested.
In order to earn the JT-NM Tested designation for NAB 2019, vendors were required to attend a testing event hosted at the Fox Networks facility in Woodlands, Texas during the week of March 18, 2019. Vendors who attended the event and agreed to make their test results public have earned the right to display a JT-NM Tested badge with their products at NAB 2019.
For IBC 2019, there are two JT-NM Tested Catalogs. One for ST 2110, and the other for NMOS/JT-NM TR-1001-1. The catalogs document the test procedures, test equipment and results of the JT-NM Tested event that was held during the week of August 19, 2019 at Riedel Communications in Wuppertal, Germany.
The JT-NM Tested catalogs provide detailed test results and describe all test criteria and methodology as well as listing hardware and software versions of all products tested, offering complete transparency of the entire evaluation process.
“As the industry continues to move to IP-based operations, users need to have confidence that equipment from various vendors actually conforms to the standards adopted by the industry, and the JT-NM took the initiative to begin to address some of these requests from users,” said Brad Gilmer, executive director of the IP Showcase. “While not a certification program, the JT-NM Tested catalog documents a valuable snapshot in time of how vendor equipment aligns to key parts of SMPTE standards, providing prospective purchasers and users with a reference as they begin their equipment evaluation and qualification process.”
